Winter Wedding at the Harris Building
Maria & Andrew | Grand Rapids, MI
There could have not been a better day for a winter wedding - a perfect blanket of fresh snow and the sun appearing just after the ceremony. Maria & Andrew planned an elegant January wedding starting with their ceremony at Basilica of St Adalbert Catholic Church in Grand Rapids. I’m not always big on church weddings as I love being outside, but this church is absolutely gorgeous, and was such a beautiful setting for their nuptials.
We took photos downtown and made a quick stop at Martha’s Vineyard, a place that the bride and groom frequent very often, to carb up with pizza before the reception and a pleasant unexpected surprise from the store owner. The party was held at The Harris Building, a restored old brick building in Grand Rapids that is now an event venue. Guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d’oeurves and sat down to reception tables adorned with dessert centerpieces - AMAZING. It was a celebration filled with jewel tones, furs and SO MUCH dancing - which is no surprise if you’ve ever been to one of Maria’s parties.
One of my favorite bits was that Maria’s sister wasn’t able to make it to her wedding as she was due to have a baby, and at the very end of the night an announcement was made that the baby had arrived! Born on their wedding day! What a sweet surprise.
I loved getting to know these two a little bit better this year, and it was such a lovely wedding day celebrating them.
